In August we ask for your prayers specifically for FWW as we navigate planned changes in the charity. For the last two years we have been working towards a fully volunteer led structure. When Dick Johnson retires at the end of October there are no plans to replace him, with Dick planning to continue in the role of Development Officer as a volunteer, alongside his continuing part-time role as lead chaplain to the Police and Fire Service. In anticipation of this, at the end of August, FWW will be giving up its tenancy of the small office at Top Barn Business Centre, which has been our base since 2018. So this month, please pray for Dick as he organises the closing of the office, and for those who will assist. Most of FWW’s records have now been digitised, work carried out mainly by Alison Sandham before her retirement in 2024.
As you do that please also continue to pray for our chaplains, and their ministry to those at work – and those they visit.
Almighty God, we give thanks for Faith at Work in Worcestershire,
its ministry of chaplaincy to workers and businesses across the county,
and for all who have been part of this mission over many years.
At this time of transition, be our guide as we navigate change in our structure,
and continue to anoint us with your Holy Spirit to do your work in the world,
through chaplaincy to those at work,
grounded in the love of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.
Amen
Especially we give thanks for:
- Our office base at Top Barn Business Centre, and for the links and chaplaincy over the years with neighbouring businesses.
- The support and encouragement of the staff of Top Barn, who have made us so welcome as tenants these past seven years – David, Di, John, Alice, Matt, Ivan, Aileen and Stacey.
And we pray for:
- The practicalities of closing the office, making sure all that needs to be stored and used has a home.
- This not to be a distraction as our volunteers continue to provide chaplaincy to those at work across the county.
- Farmers, for whom the hot dry weather of the Spring and early Summer has made a huge impact on production, and all this means for the future of their businesses.
- The Chaplaincy for Agriculture and Rural Life (CARL) committee, and the Farm Community Network (FCN) volunteers, in their support of farmers at this difficult time, and our chaplains at the Worcester livestock market – Brenda Williams, Tim Richards and Sue Adeney – in their chaplaincy conversations.
- Trustees Anthony Glossop and Stuart Sandys, and former staff chaplain Rose Lawley, currently facing major health challenges, and their families.
- In our cycle of prayer for the work of FWW, this month we pray for: Chaplains in Pershore – Team leader Stuart Sandys, Angela Gerrard, John Podd, Cathy Cooper, David Oldham, Emily Miller, Carol Sandys, and Christine Dodd.
