On October 13th Faith at Work in Worcestershire is taking part in the Business Expo organised by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, of which we are a member. We will be one of more than 100 businesses and organisations exhibiting.  Our aim is to raise the profile of FWW, and seek out those businesses, in different sectors, which might be interested in having chaplains visit on a regular basis. We are very aware that, in the current economic climate, businesses are facing significant challenges. We want to be available to all who need that confidential listening ear a chaplain provides.

Our prayers this month focus on this event and our efforts to extend our reach within the economy of the county.

Almighty God, in your economy is found the compassion and care, mercy and hope which is the mark of your love for all that you have made, and which we see in your Son Jesus.

We pray for those in our county facing the current challenges of doing business; for wisdom, courage and discernment as they navigate uncertain times.  We pray for all at work, anxious for their future.

Inspire all in Faith at Work in Worcestershire as we seek to reach out to those in need; finding new volunteers to serve as chaplains and seeking new contacts in businesses, and so proclaim your Kingdom.

Through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord.

Amen

Especially we pray for:

  • Dick Johnson, Alison Sandham and Paul Lawlor as they attend, on behalf of FWW, the Business Expo at the Three Counties Showground on October 13th.
  • For all exhibiting at the Expo, and all who will visit from businesses across Worcestershire, and opportunities to develop chaplaincy to those we contact.
  • For new people from churches to volunteer and train as chaplains.
  • Business owners and managers, in the private and public sectors, considering how to meet the many challenges of these days.
  • For workers at risk of redundancy because of recession.
  • For those on low wages for whom inflation means facing difficult choices and anxiety in making ends meet.
  • For all at risk of debt through pressure on personal finances.
  • Peace in Ukraine, and between nations caught up in economic conflict.
  • FWW Chaplains: In our cycle of prayer this month we pray for our chaplaincy at the YMCA – Jules Bird.
  • FWW Trustees:  This month for those trustees who represent chaplains – Paul Lawlor and Sarah Leeson.
